Fresh Ideas for Card Making
Rainbow Background Technique
Rainbow Background Technique

Create pretty rainbow-inspired backgrounds for your paper crafting projects.

Rainbow Background Technique

Here's How:
Supplies are simple for this project.  All you need is a collection of Stampin' Up! Write Markers, watercolor paper, and a spritzer bottle filled with water.

Rainbow Background Technique

1. Spritz water onto your piece of watercolor paper.  You want the watercolor paper to be fairly wet.
2. Create bands of color about 1/2 way across the paper using the markers.

3. Spritz the paper again to the marker colors start to pool and run.

4. Hold the paper up at a slight angle so the marker colors run to the other edge of the paper.
You can add more color to the bands if you'd like. Just spritz a little more water.  I used my finger to help move and blend the colors.  You could also use an aqua painter.

5. Set the paper to the side to dry completely.
6. While the paper is drying, move onto the other elements of the card.
Stamp the balloons from the stamp set Lift Me Up on a scrap piece of watercolor paper using Black Archival ink.
Cut the balloons out using the Big Shot and coordinating Up & Away Thinlits dies.
Color the balloons using markers.
Cut clouds out of watercolor paper using Up & Away Thinlits dies.
Sponge Pacific Point ink along the edges of the clouds.
Mount watercolor card front to Basic Black matting.
Stamp greeting on Whisper White card base using Black Archival ink.
